Who is AVM Saravanan? What his contribution to Cinema?

AVM Studios established by A.V. Meiyappa Chettiar, flourished in 1960's and continued to produce films in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada languages. It became a mark of quality and symbol of good content. Today, M. Saravanan, passed away at the age of 86 years due to old age related illness. 


Entire Indian Cinema legends are mourning his demise and we see actors like Suriya getting emotional. Why? Answer lies in the growth of AVM studios established in 1946.  M. Saravanan, the son of the legendary founder A.V. Meiyappan was instrumental in upholding the grand cinematic tradition of the legendary studios. 


Under his insightful leadership, AVM Productions flourished, delivering a diverse slate of critically acclaimed and commercially successful films across Tamil and other languages. His impressive repertoire includes timeless classics such as Naanum Oru Pen and Samsaram Athu Minsaram, alongside major blockbusters. 

 


These blockbusters include the Rajinikanth-starrer Sivaji, Vijay's Vettaikaran, the popular musical romance Minsara Kanavu, and Suriya’s action-thriller Ayan. AVM Studios is widely renowned for its pivotal role in launching and nurturing the careers of countless superstars and technicians in the Indian film industry. 


Mr. Saravanan meticulously preserved the enduring legacy and ethical production ethos instilled by his father. The operations of the family-owned banner have more recently been managed by his son, M.S. Kugan, ensuring the continuation of AVM's distinguished cinematic journey.
