Cultivation not allowed in the Capital city area?

on Dec 31, 2014

AP Agriculture Minister Prattipati Pulla rao has stated that cultivation is prohibited in the ear marked areas of the capital city from next session. He said farmers are allowed to sell their products produced from their agricultural lands but not allowed for cultivation. This measure is to prevent any complications in land acquisition process, said the minister.

State government has identified 122 acres of land for the capital city and brings it under CRDA limits. But, CRDA limits spread to 7068 km in Krishna and Guntur districts. The state government will collect total 30,000 acres of land from these two districts under land pooling system. All these lands are highly fertile lands and yields three crops a year. But, farmers are asked not to plan any crops in these 30, 000 acres of lands from next session.

Probably, its decision may rage the farmers, who are already very much disturbed with the land acquisition process. So, the 20 teams constituted to carry on with the land acquisition may face the ire of the farmers.

Since, it may take a year or so to start any construction activities in the ear marked areas, government should allow the farmers to carry on with their cultivation works in their lands until then, In the meantime it can work on master plan, obtain necessary clearances and funds from the central government. It will ease the pressures on the state government and also make the farmers cool
