Vijay advises Jana Nayagan team to not drag censor issue?
on Jan 28, 2026

Thalapathy Vijay has announced that Jana Nayagan is his last film and he would not act in any other film, at least, in near future. KVN Productions have come up to produce the film but it has run into censor issues prior to release. The team have moved to court against Censor officials for not awarding certificate.
They stated that the censor team have stated that they will get U/A but then got the communication that they need to go to revising committee. KVN Productions have gone to court stating that as they have locked 9th January release date, censors intentionally are delaying their film. Single Judge bench granted them U/A.
But Censor office moved to High Court and they canceled the Single judge direction and asked single bench to re-examine the case. Now, Vijay has asked KVN productions to not drag on the issue while he initially thought going to Court will help them solve the issue quicker. He asked them to request censors to finish process quickly.
Reports suggest that he asked producers to withdraw petition and let censor officials do their due process. Producers have to pay a compensation of more than Rs.50 crores and lose almost 150 crores if delays continue to drag on. Hence, even they have come to this decision and we have to wait and see, how they will move forward.
Anirudh Ravichander has composed music for the film and Mamitha Baiju is playing leading lady with Pooja Hegde as hero's love interest. H. Vinoth has directed the film and it is a remake of Nandamuri Balakrishna's Bhagavanth Kesari. If Revising Committee and censors act fast, movie could release in February otherwise it might get delayed till the end of TN Assembly elections 2026, that is, June, piling on the losses of producers.
