The state government as part of its efforts to provide transparent and honest administration has decided to install cameras at all sub-registrar's offices in the state. The government has decided to make it compulsory for all parties to come to the office for registering their properties. The photographs of the parties would be taken at the sub-registrar's office and this would greatly help in cutting down benami and fake transactions. The brokers and some real estate dealers used to affix photographs of other people and get lands registered by cheating the real land owners. All this will now be a thing of the past. If there is any fraud in the genuineness of the parties then it can be detected and the person traced with the help of the photo.
The sub-registrar's office has also started the registration through appointment scheme. So now one cannot simply walk into the office and get one's property registered. One has to take prior appointment and go the office only at the fixed time. This is also designed to eliminate the brokers who manage to fix things with the help of some corrupt officials.
