It
is very rare to find a lady writer in the world of Telugu
literature, who writes a novel or a story that manifests the
issues related to agriculture and ecological balance. It’s
not that simple to maintain a taut script without disturbing
the theme. For that, one has to study extensively about the
issues relevant to story line and possess excellent command
on cultures and colloquial languages used in different parts
of Andhra Pradesh. Chandra Latha comes under this category.
She is a specialist in choosing a dry topic or a burning issue
and weaving a story to present the topic in a double-edged
manner.
Telugu Association of North America (TANA) established in
the year 1977, conducted a competition on Telugu novel, for
the first time in the year 1997, with a prize money of Rs.1,20,000.
Ms. Chandra Lata won the prize for her novel “Regadi
Vittulu”.
This was the second novel written by 35-year-old Chandralatha
from Nellore, whose previous writing efforts include a previous
prize-winning story, an anthology of 25 short stories, "nenoo
naannanavuthaa'and completion of Sri Naarla Venkateswara Raavu's
'puraana vairaagyam'. Since 1993 she has been writing stories
and they have been published in Telugu periodicals. Her first
novel was “Vardhani” (1996), a beautiful story
based on Child Psychology. One expects great things to come
from this writer in future. If you are a
Telugu, then you must read one of her writings.
