SC condemns Madras HC suggestion to rape victim

The Madras High Court’s suggestion to rape victim to compromise with the guilty in a rape case leads to strong protests and criticism. The Supreme Court also strongly condemned the Madras High Court’s suggestion. The Supreme Court stated that compromising between rape victim and accused are not acceptable. They are disrespecting the women rights. Any such attempt should be treated as an offence, even though the victim in the case is ready for it. Any such attempt will be encouraging such heinous crimes. Anyone found guilty in a rape case should be punished severely according to law.”

Actually, this kind of solution in a rape case was generally seen as an ultimate solution in the old movies, where the guilty in the rape case admits his mischief and marries the rape victim in the climax scene. Then people also used to believe it is the ultimate solution in such crimes. But a High Court making such a peculiar suggestion to rape victim in these modern days, obviously leads to strong criticism.
