South India turning into a desert

Sad but true. In a study published in journal Current Science, scientists have revealed the desertification process in the states Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Telangana. This study was based on the remote sensing data for two time-frames - 2003-2005 and 2011-2013. Ironically this process is said to have fastened in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka which is not a good sign. The desertification process in Andhra Pradesh has increased by .19% which is highly significant. It means that the state could turn into a desert within a century. However the reason behind this phenomenon is said to be manmade. Poor management of resources and turning the land into non-productive are expected to be the reasons behind this worrying cause.
