Yet another non bailable warrant against Mallya

Troubles don't seem to end anytime soon for owner of now defunct Kingfisher Airlines and business tycoon Vijay Mallya. He has been issued yet another non bailable warrant by a court. The Andheri Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court issued a non bailable warrant against him on Saturday in a case of cheque dishonor filed by Airport Authority of India (AAI). Earlier on the seventh of May the Magistrate Magistrate A A Laulkar had directed Mallya to appear before the court today failing which it will issue a non bailable warrant.

The non bailable warrant was issued as Mallya's yet again failed to appear in front of the court today. In his defence, Mallya’s lawyer stated that since the passport has been revoked he could not be present at the court hearing and that the procedure should be heard in his absence. The AAI was fighting a case of two cheque dishonor worth Rs 50 crore and Rs 57 crore respectively since 2012 and has earlier sought the cancellation of Mallya’s permanent exemption from court appearances who now stands as an absconder with a total debt of over Rs 9000 crore.
