The elevation of Narendra Modi as chief of election campaigning committee not only irks its leaders like Advani and others but also NDA alliance partner JD (U) leaders. Its main leader, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar is firmly opposing any elevation of Modi status in BJP. Hence, JD (U) leaders are meeting soon to decide whether to continue in NDA or to snap ties. However, since the party is now solely depends on Nitish Kumar, it is likely to snap ties with NDA following his interests. Its president Sarad Yadav has told the media that they will announce their decision in a couple of days.
If, JD (U) snaps its ties with NDA, then BJP may withdraw its support to Nitish Kumar government in Bihar. Currently, Nitish government is having 118 MLAs out of 243 members in the Assembly. BJP is supporting Nitish government with its 91 members. However, JD (U) believes that there will be no immediate threat for the government even if BJP withdraws its support to it.
