The victim's father, K Sudhakar Rao said Sheshadri was dragged out of his room allegedly by fellow students on Thursday night and shot. Sheshadri was found dead in an adjoining park. The family further said that they were informed of the murder by the Indian Consul General only by Friday afternoon. "I got the information from the Consul General," said Sudhakar. "He has now proceeded to Boston and is holding talks. The University officials have said they will cooperate fully with the Boston police in their investigations.

Seshadri was a BTech graduate from NIT, Karnataka and was doing his MBA in Mathematical Finance in Boston University. In a statement posted on the University website, President Robert A Brown offered condolences to the victim's family and friends. The Police said that he was shot in the head and leg and was pronounced dead at the scene. There has been a series of killings in Boston this week, say reports.
