Congress may lose Maharashtra: Opinion Poll

Maharashtra and Haryana states are simultaneously going for Assembly elections on October 15th. Hence, once again it is time for opinion polls. According to a latest survey conducted by ABP News-Nielsen, NDA alliance partners will make a clean sweep in the Maharashtra state Assembly elections by winning 200 out of 288 Assembly seats. Congress and its alliance partner NCP may get only 65 seats, according to opinion poll.

While BJP is expected to win a minimum 107 seats on its own, Congress may be able to fetch just 40 seats as against 82 in the previous elections. However, around 26 percent of the respondents surveyed have preferred the present Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan as against Shivasena Chief Uddhav Thackeray, although they rated his performance is just above average. If, these predictions become reality, it will be a big jolt for Congress party.
