This is certainly a bit of bad news for the DMK cadre in Tamil Nadu. As the state is facing the elections within a month, the Madurai strongman has declared that he is not going to support any party in the forthcoming elections. Its a know fact that Alagiri, son of Karunanidhi was expelled from the party in 2014. Alagiri has always been against his step brother Stalin and was expelled on one such rebellious act. But as Alagiri met Karunanidhi this March, party workers has felt that the feud was over and Alagiri would be in the party again.
Though Alagiri has rubbed the meeting as just formal, sources have revealed that he has met the DMK supremo with several demands and suggestions about the upcoming elections. But Karunanidhi was interested neither in Alagiri’s suggestions nor his entry into the party. Today as Alagiri has stated that he was not going to support any party in the upcoming elections, political analysts feel that his act could affect the fate of DMK in southern Tamilnadu. Alagiri is known to have a perfect grip in and around Madurai and his expulsion is thought to be one of the reasons that led to the defeat of DMK in 2014 Lok Sabha elections in Southern Tamilnadu.
