MEET THE TALLEST HANUMAN!

You will find many Hindu temples in India but to find one outside its borders is rare. In such a situation you may not even imagine to find the world’s tallest deity of a Hindu god, outside India. Its true! To find that tallest statue of Lord Hanuman, you will have to travel to West Indies. Part of the Dattatreya temple in Trinidad, West Indies, the statue became popular as the tallest in the world. The deity stands 85 feet tall which is why Abhishekam is performed through a helicopter. This is probably the only place where you can see this happen. This unique idol of Lord Hanuman was inaugurated from 1st to 19th June, in the year 2003. Every year you can witness cheerful celebrations on the day of Hanuman Jayanthi. This day begins with Sri Swamiji [the main priest] performing Maha Purnahuti of Hanuman Homa, this is followed by Swamiji blessing the devotees who organized for the repainting of the deity of Lord Hanuman.

After this Swamiji follows a practice of distributing chocolates to the students of the school run by the temple authorities. They also have a Sri Chakra Puja accompanied by music. While performing the Hanumad Vratam, as many as 21 verities of fruits are offered to Lord Hanuman. It is believed that the Padavas of Mahabharata performed this Hanumad Vrata and got rid of all their problems after taking the darshan of panchamukha Hanuman [five faced Hanuman]. So if you want to experience the same bliss, you must go to Trinidad. It is not very hard to find the Dattatreya temple, built in the Dravidian style of South Indian architecture, which is located just half an hour away from the Port of Spain. So, when are you going?
