Earlier, Megastar Chiranjeevi has acted in a socio fantasy entertainer with the same title in 1988. And the film went onto become a gigantic hit and smashed many records at box office. In Tollywood, majority of the movies with Yamalokam backdrop are turned out to be minimum guarantee films, so check out Allari Naresh ‘Yamudiki Mogudu’ movie review to see whether history repeats or not!
Story:
Naresh (Allari Naresh)is a per-matured baby who was born with super natural powers and without any fate written over. He loves dramas and one day, in a ploy by Narada Muni, (Naresh Senior) he dramatically marries Yama Dharma Raja's(Sayaji Shinde) daughter Yamaja (Richa Panai). At first, he hesitates to accept his marriage but slowly Naresh gets romantically involved to her. Incidentally, Naresh realizes that Yamaja is the daughter of Yama Dharma Raja and pleads him not to separate them. Apparently, Yama rejects and with his super natural powers, Naresh enters Yamaloka. He teases and confronts with Yama on many occasions and woos Yamaja and her mother Ayyo(Ramya Krishna). Finally, he was trapped by Yama and destiny takes him to Bhooloka again. What fate changes Naresh to go back Bhooloka? How he wins the heart of Yama Raja forms the rest of the story.
Analysis:
The first half of Yamudiki Mogudu is hilarioust with superb comic timing and beautiful one-liners from Allari Naresh. The story goes on a slow pace till Master Bharath enters the movie. Then, with the spoof of 'Bommarillu' between Bharath and Sayaji Shinde, the movie catches the tempo followed by the swimming pool scene. Raghu Babu and Jyoti have provided wonderful support to this comedy episode.
The second half starts at snails pace and is cliched with purposeless episodes. Some times, we feel the dialogues go over board in Yamalokam episodes. The episode where Allari Naresh dresses like a woman is lame and tests your patience. The director failed to draw emotion at the right time and the plot gets deviated many times in this hour.
Except for highly hyped 'Atto Attamma Kuthuro' all the songs disappoints onscreen. Ramya Krishna who danced with Megastar Chiranjeevi in the original has once again enthralled the audience with her glamor and raunchy dance movements. The climax looks very silly and failed to generate the required emotion. It's been observed that people are leaving the theaters even before the climax! Overall, you can't enjoy 'Yamudiki Mogudu' thoroughly for its poor show with cliched content.
TeluguOne Perspective:
Director E Sattibabu who earlier directed ‘Nenu’ and ‘Betting Bagarraju’ with Allari Naresh has come up with a socio fantasty subject this time. The director has made sure that ‘Yamudiki Mogudu’ has all the required commercial elements with entertainment only in parts. But, the narration falls short at places and didn’t engage you all the time. The focus is only on comedy quotient and we feel many scenes as the rehash of several old films including Chiranjeevi's 'Yamudiki Mogudu'. However, the title is justified well with few teasing episodes between Allari Naresh and Sayaji Shinde in the beginning. But, you get bored as most of the scenes looks vulgar without any proper significance.
Director Sattibabu has failed to make use of the star cast and eventually focused more on the grandeur rather than the concept. The film is aimless and loses hope as it goes. Compared to the second half, the first half looks promising. We have seen many movies with Yamalokam backdrop in the past but, the subject here is wafer thin and directionless. Lastly, 'Yamudiki Mogudu' will appeal to the audience who love to see Allari Naresh movies without any conviction and concept.
Performances:
Allari Naresh has once again carried the movie on his shoulders. He leaves an impact and leaves an impression whenever he appears on screen. His comedy timing is splendid and entertained the audience like always. Richa Panai is hardly confined to couple of key scenes and songs and she is hardly seen in the second half. Her dubbing is irritating and performance is OK. Ramya Krishna has come up with a classy performance and her dances in ‘Atto Attamma Koothuro’ takes you back to her hey days. She is looking gorgeous on screen. Sayaji Shinde as Yama Dharma Raja has done a fair job. Krishna Bhagawan, Naresh, Master Bharath, Raghu Babu have evoked few smiles. Others played their part well.
Technicalities:
Gautam Raju's editing is poor. Dialogues by Kranti Reddy Nakinaala are hilarious. Cinematography by Ravindra Babu is grand. Music and background score by Koti is below par. Screenplay is sluggish. Directorial skills of E Sattibabu are not up to the mark.
