TeluguOne wishes Comedian LB Sriram a very Happy Birthday. The comedian Lanka Bhadradri Sri Rama Chandra Murthy, or L.B. Sri Ram as he is popularly known as in the Telugu Film Industry is successful comedian, character artiste, script & dialogue writer, stage actor and playwright.Born in a village in Nedunuru, East Godavari district his father Sri Lanka Venkata Rama Sastri Somayaji, was a renowned Vedic scholar and a recipient of Rashtrapathi Award in the year 1994 .His journey into the world of plays was through an organization called Mahathi which was started by his brothers and friends under which they staged many plays all over AP and India for almost 15 years for which they received many accolades and prizes.
He wrote many plays like Lanka Dahanam, Hoosh Kaaki, Padma Vyooham, Onteddu Bandi, Gajendra Moksham, Jagrithi, Prapancha Tantram out of which Prapancha Tantram was selected by the All India Radio and was translated and broadcasted in many Indian languages in 1981. His entry into filmdom started in 1988 as a writer and after a long struggle he established himself as a good screen play writer and dialogue writer for 40 cinemas including hits like Appula Appa Rao, April 1st Vidudhala, Hello Brother and Hitler. He won the Nandi Award for Best Dialogue Writer for Ramasakkanodu in 1999, and with his first film as an actor he won the Nandi Award for Best Male Comedian in Chaala Bagundhi in 2000 and the latest being the Nandi Award for Best Dialogue Writer and for Best Character Actor for Sontha Ooru in 2009.
His natural acting capabilities which were an extension of his experience while acting in plays and his penchant for not doing too many films and getting type casted like his other co actors has earned him great respect in the film industry. From his performance as the middle class father in E VV Satyanrayana’s Ammo Okato Thaariku ( his play Ontedddu Bandi) to the recent performance in Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum where he played the role of a villager, have been highly acclaimed.
