Can Varun Tej become the next Mega Star?

Right after the Mega Star Chiranjeevi took a break from movies to start his political career, Tollywood Stars including those from Chiru’s family tried hard to take the No 1 position. Though no one publicly admitted their intentions, everyone made smart moves to occupy the top spot. But it was proven impossible for all.
Power Star Pawan Kalyan was the immediate choice, but he never believed in ranks. He created his own unique charisma which almost made him a god like figure. At one point of time, there was a tough competition between Mahesh Babu and Jr NTR. But they too failed to maintain consistency. Even Chiru’s son Ram Charan carried the expectations of his father’s fan base. He too couldn’t make it. Later the debate over next Mega Star did not arise for a long time.
Recently, the controversial director, Ram Gopal Varma re-launched the debate by choosing Varun Tej as next Mega Star. Varma may have his own reasons to believe so. But is Varun really a next Mega Star? May be it’s too early to come to a conclusion. He did only three movies and one of them is not qualified to judge his talent. Experts believe that it is impossible to make an accurate guess of the future of an actor just with two movies.
Not many took Verma’s words seriously, but Varun definitely deserves applause for what he is doing in the industry. Keeping aside his family background, he dared to choose a risky movie like Kanche. The image of next Mega Star can come later, but Varun is unique in his own way. Unlike other heroes from his family, he is tall with more than six feet height and his physique is an added advantage for him.
Some may argue that good looks alone can’t make one a Mega Star. But Varun has more than just good looks. Anyone who watched his movies will agree that this guy is definitely here to stay. Kanche showed the classy actor in him. His performance in recent ‘Loafer’ brought him close to the mass. Irrespective of the poor story and boring narration, he managed to make a mark on the audience. And that’s a very rare quality for a young actor like him to have.
He is trying to be recognized as a good actor, rather than a star hero. Like Verma said, the variation in his story selection shows what he is here for. If he continues to do different subjects, he can definitely grow to top position. His dialogue delivery, acting skills, and flexible facial expression already made him a unique actor. With consistency, it is not impossible for him to occupy Chiru’s place.
