Survey Report: TDP, BJP may win GHMC Elections

In a recent survey conducted in Hyderabad by leading English daily, it was found that TDP and BJP are still strong in the city and they may win majority of wards in the GHMC elections even after TRS clinched some TDP MLAs. TRS government postpones the GHMC elections taking excuse of reorganizing of the wards. It is planning to increase the present number of wards from 150 to 200.

It is learnt that TRS government is creating additional wards in the TRS strong hold areas so as to pocket additional wards. At the same time it is reportedly merging the wards in TDP, BJP strong hold areas so as its limit their chances of winning the GHMC Elections.

T-TDP leaders have recently complained to chief election officer Banwar Lal that the TRS government has issued notices to nearly 34 lakh voters for removing their names from the voters lists as they fails to link their voter cards with Aadhar cards or they are not possessing Aadhar cards.

However, despite all these efforts by the TRS government the recent survey reveals that TDP and BJP combo may pocket 90-100 wards, TRS and MIM alliance may get 70-85 wards and Congress may win only 20-30 wards out of 200 wards to be created. Some independent candidates also may clinch few wards in these elections, predicted in the survey report.

If this survey report is taken into consideration TRS has to do something to increase its tally in the elections. Probably, that’s why it is hugging YSR Congress party, which also can equally attract the Andhra people settled in Hyderabad. YSR Congress party that supports the TRS candidate in the MLC elections may prefer to extend its support to TRS party in the GHMC elections also. If so, both alliance groups may get nearly equal share of wards and hence their victory may be decided with a very narrow margin.
