Telugu Star Hero Films Which Got Shelved

Every year hundreds of films are launched. However, few get shelved owing to various reasons. Few star hero films too got cancelled, even after launch. Here is the list:
1. Chiranjeevi
Abu Baghdad Gajadonga:
Suresh Krishna was the director of the film which got shelved after some part of the shoot. Chiranjeevi’s posters in the film were well received then. Reason for cancellation of the film was Muslim leaders had complained that the team had used the holy papers of Quran dipped in tea and then dried to have an older look. Estimated budget of the film was Rs 50 Cr.
Vinalani Undi:
Ram Gopal Varma who was in full swing had got to direct Chiranjeevi in a film called Vinalani Undi. Shockingly, RGV dropped the project even after canning couple of songs as he got a Bollywood film offer.
Untitled Film With VN Aditya:
VN Aditya delivered a super hit with 'Manasantha Nuvve'. Chiranjeevi offered him a project which was supposed to be produced by Naga Babu. Nontheless, this movie got cancelled after the launch due to unknown reasons.
Bhoolakaveerudu:
Creative director Singeetham Srinivasa Rao shot major portion of a film titled 'Bhooloka Veerudu' with Chiranjeevi. Since, Chiru wasn’t convinced with rushes called off the venture.
2. Balakrishna
Narthanasala:
It was a dream for Nandamuri Balakrishna to make Narthanasala, the remake of NTR's classic film with the same name. The film which was to be directed by Balakrishna himself was shelved with the sudden demise of actress Soundarya.
Vikramasimha Bhupathi:
The hit combination of Balakrishna, Kodi Ramakrishna and S Gopal Reddy had teamed up for a film titled Vikramasimha Bhupathi. This movie was shelved owing to unknown reasons after some part of the film was shot.
Harahara Mahadeva:
Balakrishna and B Gopal delivered blockbusters in their combination. A film titled 'Harahara Mahadeva' in their combination was launched and Bellamkonda Suresh was supposed to produce it. Nonetheless, the film was dropped before it went on sets.
3. Venkatesh
Radha:
Venkatesh’s Radha which was supposed to be directed by Maruthi was launched with Nayanthara as female lead. This movie was called off with an aspiring writer alleged his story was stolen.
Veerayya:
Director Krish announced to make a socio fantasy film Veerayya with Venkatesh. When things were set for the film to be launched, it got shelved with a new producer acquiring rights of a novel titled Athadu Adavini Jayinchadu, based on which Krish penned his film’s script.
Adallu Meeku Joharlu:
Kishore Tirumala penned a hilarious script for Venkatesh, after delivering a super hit Nenu Sailaja. Titled Adallu Meeku Joharlu, Nithya Menon was roped into play lead actress. However, the film got shelved due to reasons best known to Venky.
4. Pawan Kalyan
Satyagrahi:
Pawan Kalyan’s maiden directorial venture Johnny was a disaster. The actor had announced to act and direct a film titled Satyagrahi which was supposed to be produced by AM Ratnam. Though the producer made several trials to revive the project, but it didn’t happen.
Jesus Christ:
Pawan Kalyan and Singeetham Srinivasa Rao had teamed up to make a film titled Jesus Christ, based on the life of Jesus Christ. But somehow, the film didn't go to sets with Pawan Kalyan fans expressing their dislike and of other reasons.
5. Ram Charan
Merupu:
Ram Charan had signed a film Merupu with Tamil director Dharani. Kajal Aggarwal was female lead in the football backdrop film. But the film was shelved due to some unknown reasons, after grand launch.
Untitled Koratala Siva film:
Director Koratala Siva was supposed to direct Ram Charan in a film which was launched grandly. Nevertheless, Charan called off the film as he was not convinced with the subject.
6. Mahesh Babu
Businessman 2:
Mahesh Babu and Puri Jagannadh’s Businessman was a commercial hit. The duo post release of Businessman announced make sequel to it. But, this movie was shelved with Puri making few debacles in the meantime.
Multistarrer With Nagarjuna:
Veteran filmmaker Maniratnam planned to make a multistarrer film with Mahesh Babu and Nagarjuna playing lead roles. Though Nag was interested to work for the project, Mahesh didn’t show any interest. So, Mani had to call off the project.
There were few other star heroes films got shelved before or after launch owing to various reasons.
