Sri Rama Rajyam Movie Review

on Nov 17, 2011

Nandamuri Balakrishna is back in action and this time he teams up with legendary director Bapu to woo the audience with his mythological movie Sri Rama Rajyam. With Bapu holding the megaphone and Balayya playing Lord Rama, the expectations for Sree Rama Rajyam movie has already been very high. So let’s check out Sri Rama rajyam movie review.

Story
Sri Rama Rajyam movie explains how poet Valmiki, (Akkineni Nageswara Rao), the author of the epic Ramayana narrates the script in general. The movie further showcases the incidents on Lord Rama's (Balakrishna) life and how his journey goes on after he saves Sita (Nayanatara) from Raavana.

Analysis
Alright! Let’s take a break from all commercially spamming movies and head the mythic way - Sri Rama Rajyam movie is a typical Bapu’s calligraphy as the legendary director comes with a mythological treat. The best part of Sree Rama Rajyam movie is that the casting just cannot get any better. Balakrishna looks good as Rama. Nayanathara looks perfect as Sita and Akkineni Nageswara Rao is apt for Valmiki.

Director Bapu once again takes us back to the late 70’s and 80’s in terms of storytelling (at least for some time). Although, it is a holy (known) script, still, it has to be dealt very carefully and Bapu once again showcases an anecdote in a deferential way. In fact, the way he chose to narrate the story looks very natural and gifted.

TeluguOne Perspective
Lord Rama’s life is one of perfect adherence to dharma despite harsh tests of life and time. And director Bapu has showcased that gracefully. Bapu unleashes his mythological touch with Sree Rama Rajyam. The movie lives up to the expectations as all crucial characters in the movie do more than justice to the real time characters. Sri Rama Rajyam garners excitement when the Lava-Kusha episode takes the centre stage.

Mullapudi Venkata Ramana sir has done a brilliant job. He just showed his flawless ability of penning situational dialogues. Known for his hilarious style of writing and dubbed as master in screenplay, Mullapudi has depicted his classic touch of penning dialogues.  His contributions were also seen in the screenplay too- which was pleasing. Previously, Nagarjunsa's Annamayya was considered as the benchnmark movie in Tolywood for mythological films but henceforth, Sri Rama Rajyam could be the platform to compare.

Performances
Balakrishna comes up with a great performance. We’ve already seen in movies like Bhairava Dweepam, etc. Putting aside all his commercial scripts and routine dialogues, it’s really refreshing to see Balayya in devotional avatar. After NTR, only Balakrishna can match the looks of Lord Rama. Balakrishna's performance has been outstanding and classic.

Nayanatara! Boy, she delivers a stellar performance and one just gets the feeling that any other heroine would have been a misfit to her character. Her emotions, body language besides Balayya strikes a perfect match. The same holds good even to Akkineni Nageswara Rao. He still has it in him and perfectly suits the character of Valmiki.

Technicalities
Maestro Ilayaraja is a huge asset to the movie. His music and RR has become an instant chart buster and there has been a tremendous response to the audio. PRK Raju’s cinematography is decent while art director Ravindra set design is natural. National Award winner Kamal Kannan (of Magadheera) has done a great job in terms of Visual Effects. They almost rflect naturality.

Final Word
Sri Rama rajyam movie review comes like a breath of fresh air amid all commercial clutter! Watch out for Balayya and Nayanatara's performance and the movie is surely a tribute to the great Mullapudi Venkata Ramana!
