Aishwarya Rai Dead? Hoax news goes viral

on Dec 5, 2016

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan seems to be the latest victim of a horrible death hoax that has gone viral. The actress started trending soon after a ghastly news of her committing suicide started circulating on whats app on Sunday evening. Reports claimed that Aishwarya had taken an overdose of tranquillisers following constant ‘family quarrels’ over her steamy photo shoot with Ae Dil Hai Mushkil co-star Ranbir Kapoor.

The reports added that her alleged suicide attempt and subsequent death was hushed up by the family. The hoax story claiming that Aishwarya Rai committed suicide is now one of a growing number of fake stories targeting celebrities and politicians.

This has been a trend in the past five or so years in the United States, with these stories cropping up on social media and spreading quickly, sometimes even prompting the person affected to release a statement clarifying that they are in fact alive. Rai is not the first one to be on the receiving end of such death hoaxes.

Most notably it was her father Amitabh Bachchan who was the victim of a viral death hoax back in 2008. Along with him, several actors including Dev Anand, Kadar Khan and Shashi Kapoor have had their share of death hoaxes.
