Amazing Response for NATS Free Medical Camp in New JerseyTrue to its reputation as one of the premier service organization for Telugus, North America Telugu Society (NATS) conducted a Free Medical Camp and a Bone Marrow donation drive at Sri Venkateswara temple in Bridgewater, New Jersey on Sunday 02/21/2010.

Several Elderly Parents who are visiting from India, had consultations and examinations from several specialist doctors at the event. Also unemployed families and Students thronged the venue to seek medical aid and advice.

Dr.Madhu Korrapati (Nephrology, Internal Medicine) championed the effort in inviting the participation of several doctors for the event. The following doctors graciously responded, extended their help and offered various medical services to the patients – Dr.Mahesh Bikkina (Cardiology, Interventional Cardiology), Dr.Ramesh Eluri (Psychiatry, Geriatric Psychiatry), Dr.Janardhan Bollu (Gastroenterology, Internal Medicine), Dr. Suryaprakash Ganti (Anesthesiology, Critical Care Medicine), Dr.Purushotham Surapaneni (Internal Medicine), Dr.Ugandhara Rao Vemulapalli (Psychiatry, and Weight Loss), Dr. Sreedevi Rama (Obstetrics, Gynecology), Dr. Lakshmi Lavanya Sodagum (Nephrology), Dr.Vineet Korrapati (Internal medicine and gastroenterology), Dr. Srinivas Katta (Internal Medicine) and Dr. Shaunak Dwivedi (Internal Medicine and Nephrology). Mr. Kaschit pandya, helped for blood sugar measurement during the entire event.

Free Medical Tests were performed and meditation coupons were distributed to all the participants of the Medical Camp. Body fat measurements and weight reduction advise was given. Also nutritional consultations were given for heart healthy diet, low cholesterol diet and diabetic diet. Public were also made aware of the early symptoms of stroke and were taught on how to seek help in case of emergency.

Mr.VijayReddy Annappareddy sponsored Free Blood Sugar machines, Strips and Meditation Coupons to all new NATS members. About 50 free machines were distributed to the patients. During the camp some participants were diagnosed with new onset hypertension and diabetes and were advised accordingly to follow with primary doctors.

‘Neighbor Care Pharmacy’ and ‘Indiaissaving.com’ extended their help to the event. Dakshin, Abhiruchi and Baba Hut sponsored delicious food for the event. Raffles were taken in regular intervals and various forms of medical devices were provided to the winners.

Later, Dr.Vineet Korrapati and Dr.Madhuri Adabala conducted a Bone Marrow drive and there was an overwhelming response from people with more than 30 donors pledging for the noble cause.

Mr. Mohan Krishna Mannava and Mr. Anil Boppudi planned and organized this medical camp.

The following NATS Team – Srinivas Ganagoni, Ramesh Gandhamaneni, Ramesh Nuthalapati, Raj Allada, Vasu Tupakula, Sudhir Tummala, Ranjit Chaganti, Ravi Parvathaneni, Vishnu Aluru, Prasad Gurram, Krishna Thella, Ramanaidu Kantubuktha, Sridhar Donepudi, Prajwala, Punnam Manthena, Ranadheer Thakur, Siva Muvva etc sweated hard to make the event a big success.

Even young kids Chaitanya Tummala and Saikumar Ganagoni chipped in with their handy contribution for the cause. Srinivas Koneru (K.V.K) and Sridhar Appasani contributed for media promotion.

The following prominent local community people – Sailaja Adluri, Hari Tummala, Sathish Dasari, Ravi Dhannapuneni, Ganne Ramana, Jay Prakash, Sreenath Dhulipalla, Bhaskar Bhupathi, Raja Tummala, Ravi Potluri, Srinivas Bhartavarapu, Prashanth Vemuganti, Krishna Prasad Sunkara, Satya Kalagotla etc participated in the event and praised NATS Service initiatives.

There was a great shower of appreciation for the Medical Camp especially from the elderly community who are on visit from India.

Mr.Mohan Krishna Mannava thanked all the Doctors and Volunteers for their tireless efforts in making this event successful. Later, Dr Madhu Korrapati stated that similar medical camps will be conducted by NATS in Philadelphia and New York Regions.
