Union Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu and Vizag BJP MP K Haribabu have talked to union Railways Minister Sadananda Goud and Railways Chiarman Arunendra Kumar at Naidu’s office in parliament yesterday. They both urged Railways Minister and Chiarman to consider Visakhapatnam for the new Railway zone to be granted to Andhra Pradesh state.
They argued that it would be ideal location for a new Railway zone and would be wise decision for decentralization of development activities from the new capital. They also asked them to rename the present Waltair zone as Visakhapatnam zone and merge it with the new Railway zone. They also bring to their notice that some trains are passing via Duvvada station without touching Visakha station. They appealed such trains should be passed via Visakhapatnam Railway station.
