Film Shootings Halted due to strike

Film Industry Workers’ Federation (FIWF) begins strike from today on wage revision issue. Around 15, 000 workers of various departments of film production are participating in this strike. So, all Telugu films’ shootings came to a grinding halt with their strike. This badly effect on those small and big films slated for January festival time release.

FIWF has made an agreement with Film Chamber of Commerce (FCC) few weeks ago for wage revision. While agreeing to implement the wage revision agreement made between them, FCC has laid some conditions that are not acceptable to FIWF.

FCC in its recently released letter mentioned that FCC will decide which one is a small budget movie and which is not. The wage agreement is not applicable to the small budget and immature films. Producers have the right to engage any person to make their films. FIWF is going for a strike strongly opposing these conditions. If, FCC has the right to decide the movie budget range and whom to employ, FIWF fears that then they will be betrayed by it. So, they demand FCC to revoke its conditions. If, the strike goes on even for a week, it will badly affect the film shootings, especially film releases and the small budget film producers. So, film industry has to resolve its issues amicably, otherwise it has to pay very dearly for it.
