Of Newly elected RS members; 96% are Crorepatis

Of the 57 newly elected Rajya Sabha members 55 members have assets in excess of Rs 1 crore. According to an analysis by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR), as many as 96 per cent or 55 are crorepatis and 13 have criminal cases against them. And it also stated that the average assets value of the newly elected MPs is Rs 35.84 crore. The MPs who top this list are NCP's Prafull Patel who has assets worth Rs 252 crore, is closely followed by Congressman Kapil Sibal who has assets worth Rs 212 crore and BSP's Satish Chandra Misra stands third with asset value of Rs 193 crore.
The study which was conducted also noted that thirteen among the MPs have declared criminal cases against themselves and seven have declared serious criminal cases, including cases related to attempt to murder, cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property, theft. One of four MPs from Andhra Pradesh has declared criminal cases against them.
