Mumbai saves Dhaka man with rare blood group

 

A 25-year-old youth who had met with an accident in Dhaka on May 21 was waiting for a rare blood group donors in order to undergo a life saving surgery. On saturday, four units of the rare Bombay blood group will be flown across the border to save the life of the Bangladeshi youth.

 

The blood units will be transported in a special plastic box with ice gel packs. Blood has a long shelf life, of about six weeks. But temperature control is the key. Less than 400 people are known to have the Bombay blood group, of whom few are active traceable donors.
