The move by the Anandiben Patel government in Gujarat and the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government in MP to include Prime Minister Modi’ life story in the school syllabus has been given the red signal by Modi himself. Reacting to the news Mr Modi in his tweets opposed the move as living individuals cannot be a part of the State syllabus.
"I firmly believe that the life story of living individuals should not be included as a part of the school curriculum," and "I am reading in the news that some states want to include Narendra Modi's life struggles as a part of their school curriculum," he tweeted. He went on to clarify that young children should read about the great leaders who made India what it is today and not about him. Even though various suggestions to include his life story in school curriculum were received by the Ministry of School Education he has clearly stated that his story or profile should not be included in the school curriculum.
