HL Dattu is next Chief Justice of India

 

The present Chief Justice of India ML Lodha’s term will complete on September 27th. Hence, he suggested Justice HL Dattu as his successor and government of India has approved his proposal. President Pranab Mukharji also approves his appointment as CJI. Hence, HL Dattu will take charge as CJI on the same day when RM Lodha retires from his post. Dattu’s term will completes on December 2nd, 2015. HL Datttu begins his law carrier in Bangalore as lawyer in year 1975 and becomes Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court in 1995. Later, he served Chattisgarh, Kerala high courts. He joins Supreme Court as judge in year 2008. He is leading the apex court bench that is handling 2G spectrum case.
