The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Monday asked the Hyderabad police to file a status report on the complaint against the Nizamabad MP, Mr Madhu Yashki Goud, for forgery.
Justice Raja Elango was dealing with a petition filed by the former chairman of the APSRTC, Mr Gone Prakash Rao, who alleged that Mr Goud and members of his family had travelled to the US on fake educational certificates.
Mr C. Mallesh Rao, the counsel for Mr Prakash Rao, told the court that his client had lodged a complaint with the DGP who in turn referred the case to the city police. He said though the DCP of the crime branch investigated the case and submitted a report confirming the offence, no case was registered.
The Judge wondered how the police could conduct the probe without registering the case and asked the public prosecutor to submit a report on the issue within two weeks. Mr Mallesh Rao said, "We challenged the action of the city police in not registering the case when there was prima facie evidence of manufacturing fake documents and also using them for fraudulent purpose by showing them as genuine."
