These are the days of awareness over health. Every now and then we find some kind of diet or therapy surfacing assuring miraculous cures. `Blood Type Diet’ is one such assumption that’s offering good health.
Blood Type diet is an idea developed by a naturopath named Peter J. D'Adamo. He claims that our body reacts differently with different foods based on our blood group. The food we eat affects our carbohydrates basing on our blood group! If we follow the diet that suits our blood group... we can be slim and healthy. He suggests the following foods for each type of blood group and offers the explanation behind his suggestion.
O group blood
Peter claims that O group blood is our ancestral blood group. So, they should eat more of high protein food that suits the diet of a hunter! He suggests them to rely much on meat, poultry, fish and vegetables that are rich in protein.
A group blood
According to Peter this kind of group has evolved during the agrarian era. So people with `A’ group should be eating more of vegetables and fruits. And of course, they should be organic as they are much prone to heart disease, cancer, and diabetes.
B group blood
Peter assumes that B group blood has originated from the nomadic tribes and thus they are more effective in digesting meat and dairy products! Type B’s are said to have good immune and digestive systems than the people with other blood groups.
AB group blood
As per Peter, type AB is the recent form of evolution in the blood group. But they have to rely on the diet similar to type B rather than type A. This means that they should eat more of dairy products and eggs.
The daily routine
It’s not just the case of diet! Peter suggests that people with different blood groups have different traits. They differ in their immunity and digestion. Basing on such variations, Peter even recommends various workouts for different groups.
The Truth!
- There isn’t much scientific evidence to prove that blood groups affect our digestive process.
- Some evidence was found that food suggested to `A’ group can be healthy. But that can be healthy for any person of any blood group, as it consists of fruits and vegetables!
- If people follow the diet pattern of Peter and rely mostly on the prescribed diet... such diet might affect their medical conditions and nutritional intake.
So, sceptics have rubbished this `Blood Type Diet’ as nothing but mere Fad Diet! A Fad Diet is nothing but a diet that promises huge health advantages without any scientific evidence. But many Europeans are still relying on Peter and were following his diet!
