Prathighatana Movie Review
on Apr 18, 2014
Prathighatana Movie Review is finally here. Prathighatana Movie Review can shake you, break you and freeze you for a while in shock and puzzle.Charmee's 50th film could also be the last one as an actress ...But we hope not...
Story :
The story revolves around the life of an ambitious journalist (Charmee) who wants to reveal the dark side of corrupt and unfit politicians. In this course, she gets involved in the gang rape case of a girl. Although the convicts are known to everyone, no one comes forward to tear their mask apart. The victim's relatives and family gets affected in different ways in the first half. How Charmee unveils the real face of these brutal animals ? What kind of hindrances she faces ? and Will Truth win or not ? is the rest of the story.
Analysis :
Although Prathighatana runs on the concept of women empowerment and justice to women, political shades are more dominant throughout the film. In fact, Charmee ends up giving a political moral of the story towards the climax. The movie portrays a noble cause but it is unclear and not well planned. The film could have been on the brighter side if only the cause was explained with facts and real statistics. Instead, there were shades of only Nirbhaya's brutal attack.
Performances :
Charmee :
All expectations that were riding on Charmee's performance had been flushed down the drain. Her noise was dominating her performance in fact. Charmee's voice could have been dubbed with some good Telugu to justify the role of a journalist working for a Telugu channel. Charmee has definitely lost her charm. One good thing noticed is that, she has lost weight.
Atul Kulkarni :
This man plays the role of an honest police officer who wants to confront the culprits and find justice for the victim. He performed his role in perfection and that is all we could say.
Raghu Babu :
Raghu Babu should be very thankful to the director for giving him a pivotal and full length role in a film. So far we had seen him like a villain who can only do comedy. This movie is an overdose of the same. He dons the role of a politician here.
Performances of Reshma, Posani Murali Krishna, Jhansi and so on are just fair enough.
Technical Aspects :
Cinematography :
Cinematography was good. The sequences involving clips of Nirbhaya rape case rally was a bit off the track. Certain scenes were impressive while some we cliched.
Direction :
Tammareddy Bharadwaj did disappoint all his followers. The script wasn't looking organised and the whole theme looked like a lot of mess on the whole. We are not sure if this movie was for political awareness or for women empowerment and safety.
Music :
Prathighatana had no place for music after all. There is only one song on Reshma which gets lost in the movie.
Positive Aspects :
1. Charmee's weight loss
2. Some scenes showing the plight of women in our country.
3. Atul Kulkarni's salt and pepper look with a great appeal. He was like a Macho Man
Negative Aspects :
1. An unorganized script with a lot of flaws.
2. The film gets too noisy while Charmee tries to vent out her emotions.
3. It just looks like a story built on bad politicians. Nirbhaya's story and the rape concept were used as a reason to punish the politicians.
Conclusion :
Please do not forget to carry a Zandu Balm along with you !!! More than creating awareness, Prathighatana certainly induces a lot of stress and frustration in a person. This movie reminds us of some of movies by the Late T Krishna and other revolutionary directors movies from the 1980s and 90s.A sensitive subject should have been sensitively handled!
