Positives:
Hardly Any
Negatives:
Almost Everything
Analysis:
Director Madan is known for his writing in the critically acclaimed film Aa Naluguru. He made his directorial debut with Pellaina Kothalo which was a decent hit. After delivering few flops, he came up with Gayatri in which Mohan Babu played dual roles as hero and villain. First of all, there are many loopholes in the script. Mohan Babu going to jail on behalf of others is convincing, but changing getups accordingly is unconvincing. Flashback episodes were also tedious. Manchu Vishnu and Shriya Saran romantic track was also ordinary. Climax jail episode where Shivaji takes on Gayatri Patel was good.
Artists Performances:
Mohan Babu showed variations in two characters- Shivaji and Gayatri Patel. He was good in emotional sequences. It was a challenge for him to act in an action sequence in climax episode where he needed to appear in two roles and he has done tremendous job. Manchu Vishnu was decent as young Mohan Babu. Shriya Saran was unpersuasive in traditional avatar. Nikhila Vimal played her role efficiently. Nagineedu and Satyam Rajesh were okay. Other artists played their parts capably.
Technical Aspect:
Director Madan opted to an old story. Moreover, screenplay penned by the director himself was also not engaging. Except for climax and very few episodes, there are not much pleasing elements in the film. Dialogues by Diamond Ratna Babu are good in places. Few satirical political dialogues are admirable. Sound tracks scored by S Thaman are moderate, whereas background score is soothing. Cinematography is decent, whereas editing was weak. Production values of Sree Lakshmi Prasanna Pictures are mediocre.
Verdict:
Neither class nor mass audience will love this movie.
