Roshan Meka has become one of the most exciting young talents in Telugu Cinema. His looks and screen presence have established him among Gen-Z audiences. Anaswara Rajan's Gira Gira song became a huge sensation further creating anticipation for Champion. Let's discuss about the film in detail.

Plot:

In the year 1948, Michael Williams (Roshan Meka), hailing from Secunderabad, hopes to leave India as his father George (Dulquer Salmaan) is named as traitor and he ends up an orphan. He is a good football player and he dreams to be knighted by Queen Elizabeth.

But circumstances force him to take shelter in Bairanpally and he meets Chandrakala (Anaswara Rajan), Raji Reddy (Nandamuri Kalyan Chakravarty), and many real life heroes of the revolt. Will their friendship change him? How did Bairanpally revolt become starting point of Operaton Polo? Watch the movie to know more.

Analysis:

Roshan Meka proves himself as a very skilled and dedicated actor. He gives everything to the character and he is able to shine in a role that requires great maturity from a youngster. His dialogue delivery needs to improve slightly but he is a talent to reckon with.

Anaswara Rajan impresses with her commitment to learn Telugu and her acting skills are exemplary. Nandamuri Kalyan Chakravarty doesn't really make any impact. Racha Ravi, Prakash Raj, Dulquer Salmaan, KK Menon, Santosh Pratap and many actors make a good impression.

But the narrative falters as everything is predictable and screenplay is too lethargic. With flat content and laggy scenes, the movie kills its own chance at greatness. While everyone in the cast and crew have given their best, the writing completely undermines the effectiveness.

Pre-climax where the film needs to rise up above the narrative just feels like a drag. Historical inaccuracies also undermine it. Production values of Swapna Cinema, Vyjayanthi Movies stand out and their passion to create visual spectacle is commendable. But everything boils down to writing and it has gone downhill progressively from beginning to end.

Bottomline:

Movie could have been a big box office Champion but writing undermines it.

Rating: 2.75/5
