Updated : May 15, 2026

Ram Pothineni has announced his directorial debut with his 23rd film, currently referred to as #RAPO23. The project, described as a psychological action thriller, will be produced by Krishna Pothineni under the newly formed banner Rapo Cinematics.

This career transition follows Ram's recent expansion into other creative roles, including his work as a lyricist and singer for the film Andhra King Taluka. By taking on the role of director, he follows in the footsteps of other prominent Telugu actors who have helmed their own films, such as Sr. NTR, Krishna, and Pawan Kalyan.

Coinciding with his birthday, the production team released an official poster introducing Ram's character, Veera. The artwork shows the actor from behind, wearing a leather jacket and sporting a V-cut hairstyle. The background features a large red V and city skyscrapers, accompanied by the tagline "The Story of a Lone Wolf," pointing toward a dark, urban setting for the narrative.

Principal photography is scheduled to begin this June. The production team is planning for a theatrical release in December. Ram Pothineni after trusting different producers and directors, he decided to take this risky route of directing himself. Let's wait and see if this helps to resurge his career.
