The teaser of Slumdog 33 Temple Road was launched in Chennai with director Puri Jagannadh and the film’s cast interacting with the media. Starring Vijay Sethupathi in the lead, the film also features Tabu, Duniya Vijay and Samyuktha in prominent roles.

Speaking at the event, Vijay Sethupathi spoke about his association with Puri Jagannadh and revealed that their connection goes back several years. He recalled acting as a junior artiste in the remake of Amma Nanna O Tamil Ammayi and said working with Puri now felt like a full-circle moment.

Vijay described Puri as a filmmaker who constantly thinks and writes stories even in between shots and breaks. He added that he enjoyed working on Slumdog and called it an intense action drama with strong emotions at its core. Expressing confidence in the project, he said he believes the film has the potential to connect with audiences across India.

Puri Jagannadh, in turn, thanked Vijay Sethupathi for coming onboard and said the actor’s ability to express emotions with restraint became one of the film’s strengths. Talking about the story, Puri revealed that Slumdog 33 Temple Road is inspired by two real incidents. He said the film explores the lives of people who have nowhere to go and focuses on characters who are left without support or protection.

The director also stated that the emotional intensity of certain scenes affected him personally during the making process and expressed confidence that younger audiences would connect with the film’s themes.
