Diwali is now Officially Recognized Festival In the State Of Virginia
CATS Celebrated Diwali in Washington DC Metro Area.
Washington DC, November 09 2013: Capitol Area Telugu Society (CATS) successfully conducted Diwali Celebrations at Falls Church High School, with Telugu people from around the Washington DC Metro area attending the event. The event started with the lamp lighting ceremony followed by Classical, Folk, and Movie Medleys by Children and Adults who are the local talent from the D.C Metro Area.
This event was graciously occasioned by Chief Guest Virginia State assemblyman, 87th District Delegate David Ramadan, who sponsored and worked to pass the law of Diwali Day Bill (HJ550) in Virginia State General Assembly. Delegate Ramadan shared the information about recognizing Diwali as official festival and last Saturday in October will be celebrated yearly in the Commonwealth of Virginia as Diwali Day. He distributed copies of the Diwali Day Bill to the CATS Executive Committee and updated about the significance to our Indian community. This news received tremendous applauds from the audience.
It was a fun filled event and the audience was thoroughly entertained by the kids and celebrity guest performances. They were mesmerized by lively performances from Rangam fame and Bulli Tera Super Star Indraneel, Super Singers Rahul Sipligunj & Sahiti Galidevara, Versatile Comedy Artist HariBabu and excellent anchoring and outstanding entertainment by TV Anchor - Artist and Radio Jackie Pradeep. Kids along with elders danced to the tunes on & off the stage and definitely had a great time feeling entertained.
CATS President Mr. Bhuvanesh Boojala gave the organizational speech and introduced the CATS Team and Volunteers. Treasurer, Bhaskar Bommareddy thanked all the sponsors for their exceptional support. Delicious food was served during the event. As all good things need to come to an end the event was concluded by acknowledging & felicitating all the Celebrity Guests followed by a Thank You Note by Badri Challa to the Sponsors, Media, Participants, Mentors and Audience for their support.
