Yakub Memon likely to be hanged soon

One of the prime accused in Mumbai 1993 serial bomb blasts case, Yakub Abdul Rajak Memon, who was awarded death sentence by TADA Special court in 2007, may be hanged on July 30th at Nagpur central Jail where he has been imprisoned until now. According to latest information, President Pranab Mukharjee has rejected his mercy petition few days ago and hence the Home Ministry directed Nagpur Jail officials to implement his punishment on July 30th.

Yakub Memon is a Charted Accountant by profession, but he was found guilty for funding the terrorists for making 13 serial blasts conducted in different places in Mumbai on March 12, 1993 in which 270 people were died on the spot and more than 700 people were badly injured. Supreme Court also confirmed his punishment in year 2013. Later, he approached President Pranab Mukharjee with mercy petition, but he is reportedly turned down it recently. So, Yakub Memon may be hanged on July 30th that is nearly 22 years after committing the heinous crime.

However, the prime accused in this case Dawood Ibrahim is still absconding from the police. Indian Intelligence officials are suspecting that Pakistan is giving shelter to him but Pakistan denies their charges. But, if this punishment is implemented to Yakub Memon, it would give a strong message to Dawood and to all Pakistan based terrorists that they can’t escape from punishment if caught by Indian police.
