Director General of Police (DGP) K Aravinda Rao on Thursday refused to be drawn into the controversy over the eighth recommendation of the Srikrishna Committee. On Wednesday, the AP High Court made scathing observations on the views expressed by the committee and asked the Centre to make the report public.
Speaking to newsmen here, the DGP said the committee members interacted with several experts, government officials as well as police officers before outlining the eighth recommendation. The DGP made these remarks when asked whether the committee had come out with the eighth option due to the police officials' inputs on how to suppress the movement for separate Telangana.
He further said the eighth chapter of the committee's recommendations, which was submitted to the High Court, has not reached him so far. Answering a query on Telangana JAC allegation that illegal cases have been registered against innocent people in connection with the Tank Bund statues' demolition issue, the DGP assured to withdraw cases if anybody was falsely implicated.
