DMK Chief Karunanidhi on Monday said his party would appeal against Jayalalitha’s acquittal in disproportionate assets case in a meeting held with district secretaries.
Speaking in the district secretaries meet, he is said that they would challenge Jayalalitha’s acquittal since the Supreme Court twice held that DMK has the right to be intervened in the case. He also added that both special public prosecutor BV Acharya and Karnaka’s advocate general Ravi Varma Kumar have clearly recommended to the government to appeal to the apex court.
The former Chief Minister said Acharya that if the Karnataka government did not appeal against the high court judgment, it would set a wrong precedent. The DMK leader said original complainant, Bharatiya Janata Party leader Subramanian Swamy has said he would prefer an appeal.
