Writer, Dalit activist professor Kancha Ilaiah has triggered a fresh controversy with his rude remarks against India’s first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister late Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel.
Speaking at the Times Lit Fest held at New Delhi on Sunday, “If, Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel becomes Prime Minister of the country, certainly he would turn the country into a Hindu country as he has strong faith in Hinduism. He wouldn’t allow Dr. Ambedkar to write constitution of India and there would be no democracy now in the country now. India would emerge as a Hindu nation just the way Pakistan emerges as Muslim nation after its independence,” said Ilaiah.
Obviously, people across the country are criticizing him as he hurts their feelings with his rude remarks against the noble person, who made merger of Hyderabad in India possible with his timely decision and action. These days, scholars like Ialaih are catching media and people’s attention for wrong reasons like this. Kancha Ilaiah may aware that his remarks against Sardar Patel won’t do any good for him or for the country, instead it hurts the people and may create some unexpected problems.
