For the first time in the country, a training program for the recruitment of police constables has been launched in Hyderabad. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC)'s Sports Wing has taken up the responsibility of training the poor and down-trodden youth who aspire to join as Police Constables.
This program is the brain child of Hyderabad Police Commissioner Mr. A. K. Khan. With his initiative, six Training Camps have been started in the city. At present 1200 aspiring youth are given training in these camps @ 200 in each. The camps are being conducted in East Zone at Amberpet Municipal Grounds and Mumtaz College Malakpet, in West Zone Goshamahal Stadium and Sanathnagar, North Zone Marredpally in Secunderabad and in South Zone at Petla Burj. The traning is given from 6 AM to 10 AM and the date for selection of candidates for written examination is 18 January, 2012.
Speaking to the media, Amberpet CI Mr. Akula Srinivas told that initially traning is given mainly to prepare them for getting through 5 km race, which the candidates are required to complete within 25 minutes. Only on getting through the 5 km run test, the candidates will be selected for written exam. The training not only prepares them for the test, but also boosts their confidence. The training camps being conducted under the supervision of concerned DSPs of the Zone and in the aegis of CI and SIs.
Several aspiring youth also spoke to media and expressed their happiness in undergoing the training. There were some youth among them, who failed in first attempt. They said if they had this type of traning earlier, they would have been serving as PCs by now. Really, Mr. A K Khan's initiation for this novel and one of its kind program is highly commendable.
