Balakrishna Leads Cancer Awareness Walk

Cine actor and emerging TDP leader Nandamuri Balakrishna led the Cancer Awareness Walk in Hyderabad during World Cancer Day on February 4, 2012. DGP V Dinesh Reddy flagged off the walk from Basavatarakam Indo-American Cancer Hospital and Research Institute. Indian cricketer V.V.S. Laxman, former All-England badminton champion Pullela Gopichand and many leading film actors participated in the walk.

Speaking on the occasion, Balakrishna said that it is very saddening to note that the dreaded cancer incidence is on the increase. Research is going on at Basavatarakam hospital to improve cancer treatment and to eradicate it. Quoting World Health Organization, he said that more than 30 percent of cancers can be prevented by lifestyle-changes.
