AP By Polls: Filing of Nominations Ends

The filing of nominations for the June 12 by-election for the 18 Assembly and 1 Lok Sabha constituencies came to a close on Friday.

The Election Commission has said that a total number of 431 nominations were filed for all the constituencies. While a maximum number of 45 nominations were filed for the Tirupati constituency, a minimum of 10 nominations were filed in Narsannapet.

Giving details at the end of the day, Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwar Lal has said that the election authorities had so far seized Rs. 22 crore in cash and 1.33 litres of liquor. He said 8,990 liquor cases were registered and 3076 persons were arrested in connection with various election related offences. He said on Friday, the last day, 212 nominations were filed.
