Anna Cancels Hyderabad, Delhi Trips: Is HIV Threat The Reason?

Civil society activist Anna Hazare, who is spearheading the anti corruption movement, was scheduled to hold public meeting in Hyderabad today (19-12-11). He had cancelled his Hyderabad programme for today and wanted to be in Delhi anticipating that the Lokpal Bill will be introduced in Parliament during the day.

Anna Hazare is presently in Chennai where he addressed a gathering on Sunday.
According to his close aide Suresh Pathare, changing his plans to go to Delhi, Anna will now head to Ralegan Siddhi on Monday and stay there for the next couple of days as there is no clear indication when the Lokpal Bill will be introduced in Parliament.

Meanwhile, some reports appeared in a section of press that the Delhi police have received an anonymous letter threatening that anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare would be injected HIV positive if he was adamant to come to Delhi and agitate for the Lokpal bill. Not only Anna, but a thousand of his followers will also meet the same fate, the letter reportedly said. The Delhi police have registered a case and are investigating.

Though Anna isn't a preson who can be easily deterred, it might be his team, which might have suggested that he should stay in safe cocoon a couple of days, till the police comes out with its investigation report, say the observers.
