Lawrence Beats Mani Ratnam

“Kaanchana 2” starring Raghav Lawrence has beaten Mani Ratnam “OK Kanmani” (OK Bangaram) in which Dulquer Salman and Nithya Menon are the lead roles, at box office in the opening weekend at various centres.

“Kanchana 2” is doing great at the box office. Leading trade tracker Mr. Sridhar Pillai recently tweeted that Kanchana 2 is going to be a mega block buster. He also mentioned that opening weekend collections from April 17th to 19th in Tamil Nadu, total were Rs. 17.5 crores.

Mr. Pillai also mentioned that the movie was performing well in Kerala, Karnataka and other parts of India. And he said that in Kerala the collections from April 17th to 19th were Rs. 88 lakhs, that too from just 40 screens. And this coming week 60 more screened are to be added.

He mentioned even the collections at Karnataka as 3-Day net Rs. 1.55 Cr. Those collections were obtained even when there was bandh on saturday in Karnataka and the morning show, noon shows were not played. In North India (Mumbai, Pune, Goa, Delhi, etc.) 3 days- Rs. 22 lakhs. Kanchana 2 is doing great in overseas too. He concludes saying this.

“Kanchana 2” was doing great in all centres, but “OK Kanmani” was doing good only in urban centres.

Anyhow, Mani Ratnam’s “OK Kanmani” is going good in overseas. It made Rs. 2.18 crores in US and Rs. 46.42 lakhS in UK. And it is doing good in Malaysia and few other countries.
