While the Congress MPs including former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh was staging a dharna outside the parliament in protest against their suspension from the house, TRS and YSR Congress parties’ MPs are disrupting the house proceedings inside the house shouting slogans and displaying placards.
TRS MPs are demanding for bifurcation of the high court and YSR Congress MPs are demanding the Centre to fulfill all its promises including granting of special status to the AP state. Interestingly, Home Minister Rajnath Singh has made a statement in the house on both issues.
He said that his government is committed to fulfill all promises made in the AP Reorganization Act and will do justice to both states. Just few days ago, Union Minister Indrajit Singh declared that “there are no plans to grant special status to any state.” Hence, Home Minister assurance in this context is considered to be very significant. One can assume that he is asserting that Andhra Pradesh state will be given special status.
