Dy.CM opts Kurnool for Permanent Capital

Dy.CM opts Kurnool for Permanent Capital AP CM Chandrababu Naidu’s unilateral decision of making Vijayawada-Guntur area as temporary and then permanent capital has led to difference of opinion within his ministry and also draws criticism from opposition parties.

Deputy CM KE Krishna Murthy is not happy with his decision. He also suggests his colleague minister Narayana not to reiterate that permanent capital will be built in that particular area. Krishna Murthy opines that though the ear marked area can be considered for temporary capital, it is ideal for constructing a permanent capital as there is no sufficient land for it and whatever land is available there is very high priced, which the government can’t afford to buy. He said there is around 30,000 acres of vacant government land is lying in Kurnool, whereas hardly 500 acres of land is available in the ear marked area.

Former Minister C Ramachandraiah criticizing CM’s decision states “It appears the government has chosen Vijayawada for capital to benefit particular community and for TDP leaders and not for the people. He asked why the state government hurriedly declares temporary capital, even before Shivarama Krishnan committee submits its report.
