Airtel in a Hindu- Muslim row

The most prestigious telecom provider has stuck up in a religious debate due to a foolish decision by its team. It all started when a customer named Pooja Singh approached the company’s DTH service. Her complaint was attended by a Muslim named Shoaib. However Pooja was not happy with his religion. "Dear Shoaib, as you are a Muslim and I have no faith in your work ethics because Kuran (sic) may have different version for customer service, thus requesting you to assign a Hindu representative for my request. Thanks," was her reply. Instead of standing by the side of employee, Airtel ducked itself by assigning a Hindu representative as per Pooja’s interest. This has of course gone viral and people began pledging of never using Airtel services again. It took five hours for the Airtel to realise the mistake and set their norms. A tweet has been made by the company that it won’t oblige with Pooja’s desire-

"Dear Pooja, at Airtel, we absolutely do not differentiate between customers, employees and partners on the basis of caste or religion. We would urge you to do the same. Both Shoaib and Gaganjot are part of our customer resolution team. If any customer contacts us for an ongoing service issue then the first available service executive responds in the interest of time. On your query, we will get back to you as soon as there is an update. Thanks -- Himanshu, Airtel Response Team Lead" said the tweet. But the damage has been done!!!
