Ugly Story, a psychological romantic thriller starring Nandu and Avika Gor, released today. Shivaji Raja and Raviteja Mahadasyam play prominent roles. Let's discuss about the film in detail.

Plot:
Orphaned Neha (Avika Gor) is raised by her uncle. Her cousin, Karthik (Nandu), develops a psychotic, suffocating obsession with her from childhood. When Karthik discovers Neha actually loves Gautam (Raviteja), his toxic behavior worsens. This eventually forces Neha into a torturous marriage with him. How does this dark marriage end? Watch the movie to find out.

Analysis:
Director Pranava Swaroop effectively explores the dark reality of extreme possessiveness and marriages lacking mutual consent. While the characters are well-defined, the first-half screenplay falters. Repetitive scenes establishing Neha's trauma and Karthik's psychosis make the pacing sluggish until the interval.

However, the second half quickly regains momentum. The climax is highly satisfying and realistic, delivering justice without preachy lectures, though some raw sequences may disturb sensitive viewers.

Nandu completely immerses himself in his role, brilliantly shifting from terrifying calmness to sudden rage. Avika Gor matches his intensity, communicating deep fear and pain through powerful expressions that evoke genuine empathy.

Ravi Prakash Mahadasyam and Shivaji Raja provide solid emotional support. Technically, the film excels despite budget constraints. Sri Sai Kumar Dara’s close-up shots beautifully capture raw emotions, while Shravan Bharadwaj’s gripping background score strongly elevates the suspense.

Positives:
Lead pair performances
Engaging second half
Excellent background score
Cinematography

Negatives:
Dragged first half
Repetitive scenes
Some disturbing sequences

Bottomline:

A bold and realistic psychological drama but not for all.

Rating: 2.5/5
