Updated : May 11, 2026

The recently released trailer for Suriya’s highly anticipated film, Karuppu, has unfortunately left fans and general audiences feeling underwhelmed. Directed by RJ Balaji, the movie features Suriya in the intense and powerful avatar of Karuppu Swamy. While the film looks visually brilliant, boasting stunning cinematography and high-energy action set pieces, the trailer itself failed to ignite the massive passion among star's massive fanbase.

A major point of disappointment for many viewers is the casting of RJ Balaji as the primary antagonist. Audiences feel that he simply does not suit the heavy weight of the character, lacking the imposing screen presence needed to match the hype and sheer star power of Suriya. This mismatch makes the central conflict feel less impactful than intended.

Ultimately, the promotional video suffers from a very regular and predictable cut that does little to build real excitement. Despite the promising courtroom drama and striking visuals, the routine presentation has resulted in a lukewarm response.

Fans are now left hoping that the actual movie will deliver the thrilling, high-stakes experience that the trailer missed out on showcasing. Trisha Krishnan is playing the leading lady role in the film and produced by Suresh Prabhu, the movie is releasing on 14th May, worldwide.
