Updated : Jun 5, 2026

Mega Power Star Ram Charan’s Peddi has opened strongly at the worldwide box office, with the makers announcing Rs.135.36 crore+ gross including premieres and Day 1 collections. Released on a working day without a major holiday advantage, the film delivered one of the biggest openings for Telugu cinema this year.

North America has also emerged as a strong market, with the film posting impressive early numbers and once again highlighting Ram Charan’s box office pull, with US$1.9 Million+ gross including premieres. However, alongside the strong collections, online discussions around the film’s writing and execution have gained momentum.

While many viewers praised Ram Charan’s transformation, emotional performance and screen presence, criticism around the storytelling has become increasingly visible. A section of social media users has specifically pointed at Janhvi Kapoor’s portions, questioning the way her character was written and presented.

Some viewers criticised certain scenes and argued that the role lacked emotional depth and narrative importance, leading to backlash against the makers. Director Buchi Babu Sana has also faced criticism online, with some users calling the film overly melodramatic and accusing the screenplay of relying on convenient scenes and emotional shortcuts.

There are also claims on social media that the film borrows familiar beats from multiple sports dramas. Despite mixed reactions, the opening numbers are strong but how the movie pulls collections during the weekend and will it have a long run, needs to be seen.
